London-based custom maintenance platform manufacturer SafeSmart Access will attend this year’s Hillhead exhibition. The exhibition, held near Buxton in Derbyshire, attracts thousands of construction professionals from around the world, as wall as exhibitors from plant equipment manufacturers such as Komatsu, Hyundai, Caterpillar, Case, Hitachi and many more.
With falls from height occupying the greatest portion of UK workplace injury statistics in the five years up to 2017 at 49%, safety is a big talking point at the exhibition, and SafeSmart will be a big part of that conversation.
SafeSmart have had many years’ experience in designing and manufacturing customised work platforms, steps, stairs and more for heavy machinery operators across the UK. At the centre of SafeSmart’s unique selling point is the use of marine grade aluminium, for easy hand portability as well as weather resistance. This portability encourages workers to use the equipment, rather than take dangerous shortcuts when clambering on machinery, such as using wobbly ladders, or simply climbing directly on to the machine’s surface.
SafeSmart’s Stefan Gould is looking forward to the event.
“We are now building a reputation in this specialised space,” says Stefan. “And we have excellent examples to show the plant equipment community that demonstrate how easy height safety can be when working around heavy machinery; there’s simply no excuse for walking on slippery surfaces during maintenance or cleaning.”
Previous projects for plant equipment maintenance access include:
- The Bridge Deck – a modular system comprised of two Super Maintenance Platforms and a customised aluminium deck, for reaching over engine bays or non-pedestrian areas.
- Super Maintenance Platform – seen here used by Flowline, an Essex drainage contractor.
- AdjustaStairs – Truck Version – a simple to use portable stairs product perfect for providing access to flat bed trailers and the like.
- Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Platform – this is an example of a customised work platform, especially designed by SafeSmart to perfectly suit an unusually-shaped machine.
SafeSmart Access will be at stand W13.
Hillhead is held from June 26-28, at Hillhead Quarry, Buxton.
